Welcome to Fall 2021

Welcome back, Trailblazers! Fall 2021 is upon us, and the library is excited to see our students again! We know a lot has changed recently, so I’ve written up a two-post blog series with important information to help make your visits to the library a success!

Fri: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Sat. and Sun.: Closed

Any changes in library hours will be posted on the library website and the library Instagram. 

Per the college’s requirement, everyone is required to wear a mask when inside a college building, regardless of their vaccination status. Your mask must cover the nose and mouth. More information can be found on the college’s COVID-19 Response: Safety Protocols webpage.   

Borrowing Materials
Current JTCC students can borrow up to 30 items at a time from the library. However, please be aware that you may only borrow 15 ECMC items at a time. Items may be transferred between campuses, but this can take up to a week. When you check out your books, you’ll receive an email receipt that includes its due date. You’ll also receive a reminder email a few days before your books are due. If you need to, you can renew your books as long as no one else has requested them. 

Books can be returned to either campus’s library, and both campuses have outdoor book drops that students are welcome to use. The Chester campus’s book drop is located outside of Moyar Hall and the Midlothian campus’s is located in the lower traffic circle between Hamel Hall and Eliades Hall. As general reminder: please do not use the book drops to return library technology (ex: computers, hotspots, calculators) or books from the bookstore.   

In-Library Technology 
Desktop computers are available for use, and they have the Microsoft suite installed on them. Due to their shared status, we strongly suggest that you save your work to a flash drive or your Google drive storage. Certain computers also have specialty software such as AutoCAD or the Adobe Creative Suite installed on them. For more information, please speak with library staff. 

Printing is available at the library. As of the posting of this blog, our printing system is currently in transition. If you have any questions or need help, library staff are more than happy to be of assistance. 

Study Rooms 
Study rooms are available for use this semester and are reserved for student use only. All students must agree to the Study Room Guidelines to use a library study room. Study rooms may be checked out for 2 hours, but students may use them for longer if there isn’t a waitlist. If there is a waitlist, you may be asked to leave your study room so that another student may use it.

An important note: if you are in the study room by yourself, you may remove your mask. However, you must put your mask back on when you exit the study room. If there is more than one person in a study room, all persons in the study room must wear their mask.

Please be aware: failure to follow the Study Room Guidelines may result in your study room privileges being suspended.
