CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Brightpoint Community College celebrated the induction of nearly 90 students into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society during a ceremony held at the institution’s Chester Campus on April 25, 2024. Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges and is the largest honor society in American higher education. It recognizes the academic achievements of two-year college students and provides opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming.

To be eligible for membership in Brightpoint’s Tau Rho and Beta Omicron Omicron chapters of Phi Theta Kappa, students:

  • Who have completed 15-45 credit hours need to have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.65, be in an associate degree program, and be enrolled full time during the semester they become a member. 
  • Who have completed more than 45 credits must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5, be in an associate degree program, and be enrolled full- or part-time at the college during the semester they become a member. 
  • Who have transferred to Brightpoint may use a maximum of 12 transfer credits to establish total semester credit eligibility.
