2024-2025 FAFSA Changes
2024-2025 FAFSA Changes
Last updated: June 3, 2024
Big changes are coming to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application for the 2024-2025 aid year!
The FAFSA Simplification Act was passed by Congress in 2020 and represents a significant overhaul of the processes and systems used to award federal student aid. This includes the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, the need analysis that determines federal aid eligibility, changes in terminology, and many policies and procedures for schools that participate in federal student aid programs.
Updates on the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The 2024-2025 FAFSA is available for students to complete at studentaid.gov. The FAFSA for 2024-2025 and moving forward has been simplified, removing approximately half of the questions. There have also been changes to federal methodology for determining students’ need for federal aid. If interested, you can learn more about the changes to FAFSA here: https://studentaid.gov/announcements-events/fafsa-support.
Brightpoint began receiving 2024-2025 FAFSA submissions in early May and expects to begin awarding financial aid around the beginning of June. We are partnering with Inceptia, a non-profit third-party company, to streamline the verification process for students selected by the Department of Education for federal verification.
Students who need assistance with applying for aid or who have questions may connect with the Financial Aid office by:
- Visiting the Help Hub during office hours (Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm), or
- Attending our Virtual Office Hours by Zoom on Tuesdays from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm and Thursdays from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm (Zoom links are located here: https://www.brightpoint.edu/paying-for-brightpoint/financial-aid/), or
- Emailing financialaid@brightpoint.edu
