GENERAL INFORMATION: John Tyler Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and one of the largest of the 23 community colleges in Virginia. RESPONSIBILITIES: Our college is seeking qualified individuals who enjoy teaching a variety of nursing (within NA, LPN, and/or RN programs) in face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online formats. Full-time teaching responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of 15 credit hours per semester, engaging students in the learning process, clinical supervision of students, course and curriculum development, student advising, and accurate maintenance of student files. Full-time faculty members fully participate in nursing program development and evaluation, college activities and committees, and represent Tyler at community events and professional opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master’s Degree in Nursing required by the start date. Must have several years of experience in medical surgical and/or pediatric nursing, excellent oral and written communications skills, ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, hybrid, and/or online classes, and flexible to work at any of the College’s locations. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check.

Preferred qualifications: Experience teaching at the college level, ability to use instructional technology, and knowledge of Virginia BON regulation and ACEN accreditation criteria.
