Not only has the pandemic changed our jobs, grocery stores, restaurants, gyms, and schools, the pandemic has also changed our libraries.

Social distancing means reserving space for current students only. Wearing a mask on-campus means it’s sometimes uncomfortable to spend hours in the library like you used to.

Libraries are essential to learning–whether educational or personal. So how can you use the library successfully through the challenges of the pandemic?

Know your allies. Your library staff is your ally to getting the most out of your library’s resources. How can you connect with us?

  • Live ChatOur Chat Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! JTCC Library staff are live on the Chat Service 10AM to 4PM Monday-Friday and our library partners cover the other hours.
  • One-on-One Research HelpSet up an appointment with one of our librarians for Monday-Friday 8AM to 5PM.
  • E-mail: You can always reach us at library@jtcc.edu
  • On-campus: We are currently open 9AM to 3:30PM Monday-Thursday. While our in-person services are limited, we are happy to help as much as possible.

Need something? Ask for it. You never know how a question can change things. For instance, before the pandemic, the library owned only two webcams. During the Spring lockdown, with help from other departments and donations, we got a total of 5. But so many students requested webcams, we decided to get nearly 20 more. (You can request one here). We love hearing how the library can help you more effectively.

Next week, look for more tips on how to successfully access your library, now and all through the year.
