Early Childhood Development, AAS
This two-year degree prepares students for jobs in education, working with young children (birth to age eight) in preschools, elementary schools, child-care centers, and before- and after-school programs.
Students will learn to create supportive and challenging learning environments; observe and assess development; develop curriculum; build relationships with families; and implement a range of instructional strategies and curriculum for individual children. The program includes a practicum, allowing students to spend time observing and working in a school setting. This degree has options for transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and James Madison University.
